Keynote Announcement

ACEC2014 is a major event on the national education calendar which features prominent Australian and international speakers; pre-conference master classes and tours; a comprehensive program of academic research and exemplary K-12 classroom practice; a rare and dynamic unconference component; a trade exhibition, as well as an exciting social program. 

Dr. Alec Couros (Canada), Kathy Schrock (USA) and Professor Toni Downes (Australia) are a few of the prestigious keynotes speakers confirmed for ACEC2014.

Alec Couros

Dr. Alec Couros, is Professor of educational technology and media at the Faculty of Education, University of Regina. Alec is an experienced and captivating presenter who has given hundreds of workshops and presentations, nationally and internationally, on topics such as openness in education, networked learning, social media in education, digital citizenship, and critical media literacy. His graduate and undergraduate courses help current and future educators understand how to use and take advantage of the educational potential offered by the tools of connectivity and personal learning networks. Kathy Schrock

Kathy Schrock is one of the most well-known names in education and technology. She has been a school district Director of Technology, an instructional technology specialist, a middle school teacher, academic, museum and public library librarian, and is currently an online adjunct graduate-level professor at two universities. Kathy has been involved with technology to support teaching and learning since the early 1990's and is an Adobe Education Leader, a Google Certified Teacher, a Discovery Education STAR, and a DEN Guru. In addition to teaching online, Kathy writes, speaks, blogs, tweets, and conducts professional development workshops and presentations. She is renown for her inspiring practical presentations dealing with pedagogically sound practices for the embedding of technology seamlessly into teaching and learning. Toni Downes

Professor Toni Downes has worked with universities, educational systems and schools, for nearly 30 years in the pursuit of improving educational outcomes through her scholarship in the effective use of digital technologies and her leadership in teacher education and her commitment to social justice and Indigenous Reconciliation. In 2011, she was made a fellow of the Australian Teacher Education Association and the Australian College of Educators for her career-long achievements in teacher education and the field of ICT in education.
