In 2013, ACCE provided funding to all state and territory computer education groups to support the implementation of the new Digital Technologies subject. QSITE, the Queensland Society for Information Technology in Education, designed a project called Digital Technologies: Digital Champions. Nine champions were selected from across the state. Deciding that the problem was not one of an absence of resources, but was rather the impenetrability of the resources available, QSITE wanted to lead through guidance with a very human face (and voice). The aim was to annotate the syllabus to make it more teacher-friendly. The outcome has been a QSITE You-Tube Channel, dedicated resources located on the QSITE Moodle and an interactive Prezi as a map to the resources. This session/paper - presented by the Champions themselves - will outline the achievements of this group and report on the effectiveness of the adopted approach.
An understanding of the Digital Technologies curriculum and interest in offering teacher professional development would be of use.
